The committee recommended six. It did not recommend Emideltide, also called DSIP. That advisory result did not change what a patient can legally get that day, and it did not give clinics new marketing permission. This page follows the process from nomination to rulemaking, then gives five questions to test any clinic that leans on the vote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fpc-current-status\">\n<p><strong>What is true now<\/strong> (checked 2026-08-16):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>None of the seven substances discussed at the meeting appears on the current 503A Bulks List. The current text of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ecfr.gov\/current\/title-21\/chapter-I\/subchapter-C\/part-216\/subpart-B\/section-216.23\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">21 CFR 216.23<\/a> lists six other substances and none of these seven.<\/li>\n<li>FDA has not issued a proposed or final rule adding any of the seven.<\/li>\n<li>A PCAC vote is non-binding advice. FDA generally follows advisory recommendations but is not legally required to do so.<\/li>\n<li>Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. None of that has happened for these seven.<\/td>\n<td>FDA<\/td>\n<td>Yes, at the final-rule stage<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h2>Five questions to test a clinic&#8217;s claim<\/h2>\n<p>When a clinic brings up the vote, ask these five questions and request records you can verify independently.<\/p>\n<h3>Question 1: Which substance are you referring to, and what exact use do you propose for me?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Strong answer:<\/strong> The clinic names the specific substance and the use FDA evaluated, then explains whether that use is relevant to your situation. For example, FDA evaluated BPC-157 for ulcerative colitis, not as a general recovery or longevity treatment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Red flag:<\/strong> The clinic claims that FDA approved peptides broadly for recovery, energy, longevity, or anti-aging. The committee evaluated specific substances and uses, not a general wellness category.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Verify:<\/strong> Check the substance, the evaluated use, and the clinician&#8217;s written rationale for your case.<\/p>\n<h3>Question 2: Are you describing an FDA-approved drug or a compounded drug?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Strong answer:<\/strong> The clinic separates the two and explains that a compounded drug is not FDA-approved. It identifies the licensed prescriber and the pharmacy that would prepare the prescription.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Red flag:<\/strong> The clinic treats a recommendation for the 503A Bulks List as FDA approval or calls the compounded drug FDA-approved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Verify:<\/strong> Ask for the regulatory path in writing, the prescriber&#8217;s name and license, and the dispensing pharmacy&#8217;s name and license.<\/p>\n<h3>Question 3: Did FDA issue a final rule, or did an advisory committee make a non-binding recommendation?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Strong answer:<\/strong> The clinic says that no final rule exists, the committee&#8217;s advice is non-binding, and any change to the 503A Bulks List requires notice-and-comment rulemaking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Red flag:<\/strong> The clinic says the process is finished or that only paperwork remains. FDA has not issued a final rule for any of these seven substances.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Verify:<\/strong> Check the current text of 21 CFR 216.23 and ask for the Federal Register citation of any rule the clinic claims exists.<\/p>\n<h3>Question 4: If the substance is not on the 503A Bulks List today, what federal pathway and current FDA policy do you rely on?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Strong answer:<\/strong> The clinic identifies the exact federal bulk-substance pathway, explains any applicable FDA interim enforcement policy, and names the licensed prescriber and compounding pharmacy. Patient-specific prescribing alone does not replace the bulk-substance requirements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Red flag:<\/strong> The clinic relies only on the advisory vote, cannot identify the bulk-substance pathway, or will not name the prescriber and pharmacy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Verify:<\/strong> Compare the explanation with FDA&#8217;s current 503A bulk-substances page, then verify the prescriber&#8217;s and pharmacy&#8217;s licenses with the appropriate state boards before paying.<\/p>\n<h3>Question 5: If FDA decides not to list it, what changes for me, and where do I report a problem?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Strong answer:<\/strong> The clinic explains what it would stop or change if FDA declines to list the substance and names FDA MedWatch and the state board of pharmacy as reporting paths.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Red flag:<\/strong> The clinic dismisses the risk, has no monitoring plan, or cannot name a reporting path.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Verify:<\/strong> Request the follow-up schedule, the adverse-event contact, and the pharmacy&#8217;s license in your state.<\/p>\n<h2>What the vote did not do<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>It was not FDA approval of any peptide drug.<\/li>\n<li>It did not establish that any peptide is safe or effective for any use.<\/li>\n<li>It did not add any peptide to the 503A Bulks List or change its legal status.<\/li>\n<li>It did not change state pharmacy, medical-board, or prescription requirements.<\/li>\n<li>It did not remove the need for a prescription, a licensed prescriber, or a licensed pharmacy.<\/li>\n<li>It did not validate clinic marketing language.
