The short answer needs historical context. FDA’s orphan-drug record lists Geref (sermorelin acetate) as approved in 1997 for growth-hormone deficiency in children with growth failure. An FDA clinical review later stated that its sponsor discontinued production in 2008 for a business reason and that the related approvals were withdrawn in June 2009.
That history does not tell you what a present-day clinic will dispense. Ask the clinic for the exact product name, the dispensing pharmacy, and whether the product is FDA-approved or compounded.
